The fourth Thought For Food Summit took place in Rio in July creating a platform for next generataion innovation and collaboration to address food security. The Kirchner Food Fellowship awarded a $5,000 prize to Advance London SME, Aeropowder who were judged on the criteria of market readiness, impact, scale, market size and implementation strategy.

Aeropowder have created an alternative to polystyrene thermal packaging, which is ubiquitous in the food industry, out of waste chicken feathers.  “I loved that they turn a problem into many solutions,” said Kirchner Food Fellow, Adrian Garcia-Casarrubias. “They use a food industry waste product to reduce food waste in the supply chain, all while reducing the use of polystyrene, which is polluting the sea and land all over the world.”
